Still chasing after bits and pieces

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Well the WIFI at the hotel is so slow it's like watching paint dry. The download of software for the Garmin GPS took all night. Every time I went to the toilet (which is a lot) I had to check if the laptop was still connected to the hotel Internet. It died once three quarts of the way through the download and I had to start again. The laptop has a better cover in the bedroom and entry to our suite.

Finally got the Garmin work and Richard went on his Ipad to see how to operate it plus watch how to drive on the wrong side of the road.

Did a bit of sightseeing around the area where our hotel is a lot of interesting shops but we don't need anything. Walked back to the Future Shop and spoke to Jarret about registering the GPS and he said we use our home details and the download of North America was correct.

We thought seeing I had charged my mobile last night we could buy a mobile or SIM card from their shop but were told we had to go to one of the phone companies at Spencers Centre to get a prepaid deal. On the way there we went into the Drug Store to down stairs where phones, cameras and electronics were and spoke to a very helpful Asian salesman and bought a SIM card with $30 on. Didn't need to go to a phone company. Only thing is it works in the Vancouver area and once you are outside of Vancouver you pay long distance rates of 40 or 60 cents a minute. So no long talks on the mobile as $30 doesn't go far and it is only for a month then you have to top it up.

The day has gone quickly again bought two chocolate eclairs from The MarketPlace to have with our dinner.

Too late to go done to English Bay to watch the fireworks at 10pm, stayed at the hotel and watched from our room. What a brilliant display just like the Sydney Harbour New Year display.
