Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada
Up early to catch up with the blog seeing we get back late from exploring and talking to Darryl. He is having problems with renovating the house said the lady painter took $600 from his wallet while he wasn't there. She told Richard it was probably her boyfriend that left the other day for one of the Asian countries. That made me very paranoid and I put our blue folder with our Passports, airline tickets and hotel reservations under the cushion of the lounge chair in the main bedroom. Guess what when we packed, put everything in the car and then double checked ourselves like we do at ever port of call so see nothing had been left behind. Well who would have thought of checking the lounge chair as that is something I never do and it wasn't till we unpacked at Millstone Manor in Nanaimo that I realised no blue folder and I had to phone Darryl. I admitted I was a Dickhead stood in the corner and thank god Darryl is coming up to Comox on Friday when we are there and he will give us the folder. What a lovely man probably wants a review seeing we were his first guests.

Anyway off that subject and back to our journey Richard keyed in the details to drive to Nanaimo and off we went. Mainly a long drive on the highway at different speeds through small towns fir tree forests, mountains, lakes very beautiful views and lots of cars. We still drive the Pontiac together but things are getting better and probably by the time we come back to Perth we will drive on the wrong side of the road.

We were half way to Nanaimo and at Duncan you will never guess where we had a pit stop for a coffee break a place that we only go to only to get an icecream and that is MACDONALD'S $5.00 for two Lattes. People here drive these big pickup 4W4 we feel like dwarves next to them it is so intimidating.

Drove on some more and stopped at Transfer Beach at Ladysmith for lunch a lovely spot, but was spoilt by a truck emptying the portable toilets near us. We were down wind and got full blast of the smell had to vacate to the picnic grass section of the beach. Took a video of the bay and then continued our journey to Nanaimo didn't know the number in the street but Jill did. A lovely cottage at the end of the road. Met our lovely host Audrey Ellis and her husband Keith (volunteer Fire-fighter and retired). Got on like a house on fire their daughter lives in Sydney NSW and they stayed with family in Scarborough WA. So we were exchanging stories about Australia and all the places to visit.

They invited us to join them for drinks and dinner on a boat ride to a little tavern they go to with friends (members of a Rotary Club) but as we were tired from driving we stayed in to have a BBQ meal. Walked down the back of their property to a pond to see the ducks and beavers (who were hiding) area surrounded by forest.

Had a surprise Skype call from Phyllis and John showed them around the cottage and outside including the Pontiac. Caught up with all the news and paid a few bills then retired to bed.
