Nail biting ride to Tsawwassen for Vancouver Is

Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
Young lad at Reception was funning said he was glad to see we still liked them and were checking out on the right day.

Early start the morning air was very fresh a nice brisk walk to the Granville Station to catch the Millenium Skytrain. Nice young lad showed us where to go and had the nerve to ask for some change I gave him a US dollar as I didn't want to waste any Canadian money. Had to change trains at Commercial to go to Burnaby but another person gave us the wrong info. We caught the right train but went the long way (loop) to Brentwood Town Centre where Carters GM Motors is.

Was a nice scenic journey for us and an extra 10 or so minutes.

Met Leah went over the car again took some photos met the Head Secondhand Sales Manager very nice lady but all sales people are like that. Just look at Richard butter wouldn't melt in his mouth.

Over a cup of coffee Leah printed out directions to get to Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal to catch BC Ferry to Swartz Bay Vancouver Island and directions from Swartz Bay to 1960 Argyle Ave Tomlin where we were staying for three nights.

Well after driving out different exits of the Car Yard and only making it down the highway a bit Jill the Garmin GPS was going a different direction to what Leah gave us and with Richard hugging the curb my low blood pressure became high blood pressure.

First time driving for Richard on the wrong side of the road on a highway in traffic was a bit too much for the both of us. We have to pull over in a side street gather our thoughts and nerve and let Jill the GPS guide us to the Ferry Terminal. The journey was like being in the car with Mum driving (bless her soul sorry Mum). I was making Richard very nervous by saying keep off the white line, there is a semi truck about to make friends with me.

I can honestly say I have truly earned the grey streaks in my hair and if Richard had hair it would be white. I have to dye his eyebrows now as they have turned white.

It was such a relief for the both of us to arrive safely and join the rows of vehicles to board the BC Ferry. We were given a free map of Victoria and the surrounding areas plus a Explore Victoria and Vancouver Island. Reading material before our row 36 was called to board. Talked to a lovely couple in the next row they were killing themselves laughing when I told them of our drive to the terminal. they said they had been in the same position when they were driving in England.

Took a video and photos of the terminal us inside the ferry with all the other cars . We were the last one on and thank god we just drive out the other side I couldn't handle any reversing.

The journey takes just under two hours, we walked around the ferry (just like the one on the English Channel and probably going across to Tasmania). Took a photo of a ferry coming back. The journey through the different islands was beautiful just like cruising in Alaska. The day was a bit overcast but it was nice.

Sat up the front of the ferry and had lunch the coffee downstairs. Starbucks coffee is horrible. Nearly got blown away when we had a Titanic photo taken . It was interesting to see how the ferry docked but we had to hurry to the car to drive off and start another hair raising drive to where we were staying.

Thank heavens for Jill again she found 1960 Argyle Ave Tomlin we didn't as I had to knock on someones door to get directions. Lovely chinese couple who gave us more tips and places to see. In Canada the numbers are on the houses and they don't run like ours. You have 1950 then go up a drive and 1960 is at the back weird.

Met Darryl the Owner (he is a gorgeous man) and his dog Lucy. He took us upstairs and showed us around everything has been renovated. Good exercise for us going up and down the stairs as the vacation rental is in the roof space nice and cosy consisting of kitchen and table at entry, two bedrooms, bathroom with toilet and lounge all a good size except the bathroom with modern furniture.

Just took up clothes and toiletry for the three days and one thing we didn't like was Darryl wanted to be paid in cash. I suppose because we were his first victums with this rental. Got lost going to the shopping centre this driving on the other side of the road confuses the brain. Bought three days supply of food, it is expensive here I miss the Wanneroo Markets, Big W and IGA for my specials.

Settled in for the night, had a Skype chat with Mandy and had a good nights sleep in a lovely bed.
