Naples, Campania, Italy
Di, Sandra, Urs & I had booked a driver to take us to Pompeii, Mt Vesuvius & Herculaneum. It was an early morning start but meant we could fit them all in comfortably without having to rush. We had also booked a private archaeological guide to take us through Pompeii, another good decision.

It was so fascinating & informative, having the explanations helps make sense of what you are seeing . Worth the added expense as it added so much to the experience.

Next was Mt Vesuvius, this was a struggle for all of us. Trekking up the hill in the heat, the sand & rocks on the path made it extra hard to navigate. But we made it. Took our pics then started back down again to the air-conditioned van.....

Our driver recommended a little pizzeria just near the entrance to Herculaneum, the view wasn't the best but the pizza was!!!

Herculaneum was our last stop. It was interesting but on a much smaller scale than Pompeii. A lot of what our guide had told us in the morning helped us when we walked around there. Unfortunately a storm was brewing & it started to rain so we headed for the van to takes us back to the hotel.

It was an early night for all as we had to up at some ridiculous hour for train trip to Rome to catch our flight to Malta.
