I am unpacking again. I have just spend one week in Corsica, this French island in the Mediterranean sea that we call the 'beauty island'. I went with Fan, my childhood friend. I wonder why we chose to go to an island as we are both sea sick but we did. On the way there the sea was very calm, however the way back was no fun. The sea was bad, they even almost cancelled the ferry and gave us plenty of puck-in bags. I used few of them but survived the crossing. In the end I still think it was worth it, we had lots of fun and there was not too many tourist.

In Corsica there is something for everyone, from the beach with golden sand to mountain trails . Here is my list of 'not to miss':

1) Daily 'apéritif' with Pietra, dry sausage and stinky cheese. A must. The local beer is brewed from a mix of malt and chestnut floor. Pietra is an amber beer with a very distinct but pleasant taste.

2) Drive along the north-west coast. The roads are not so good and very tortuous. They follow the coastline. So drive slowly and admire the stunning scenery made of turquoise blue water, red cliffs and the scrubland.

3) Enjoy the beach. We went swimming in the sea only once, in a little cove where the water was crystal clear named Ficagola.

4) Step inland and take a walk in the mountains and forest of Aitone. On the road to get there you will find goats, cows and wild pigs, avoid them.

5) The church of Murato. Build with stone of two colors: white and dark green . Very peculiar.

6) Visit Bonifacio (and attempt to do so in the sunshine, we failed that part). This walled-city is at the very southern tip of the island and is perched on a white cliff. To have a better feeling of the size of the cliff you can walk down the 187 steps of the Roy of Aragon. They take you at the bottom of the cliff, under the city. Then you have to walk back up...

7) Walk/climb up the tower of Capo Rosso. From there you get a stunning 360° view with the golf of Porto on one side. This golf in a UNESCO site. So definitely worth a look.

8) Canyoning in Bavela canyon. The water was a little cold but the fun was there. We had plenty of jumps, slides and other obstacle to play with.



Je suis de nouveau en train de défaire ma valise. Je viens juste de rentrer d'une semaine sur l'île de beauté . J'y suis allée avec Fan, mon ami d'enfance. Je me demande bien pourquoi on a choisi cette destination étant donné que nous avons toutes les deux le mal de mer. A l'aller tout s'est bien passé, la mer était calme. Le retour fut beaucoup plus mouvementé. La mer était tellement mauvaise que jusqu'au dernier moment le ferry n'était pas sûr de partir. Du coup quand on est parti ils nous ont distribué des sacs en plastique (qui m'ont bien servi). Enfin ça valait quand même le coup pour voir la Corse avec un peu moins de touristes qu'en été.

Sur l'île de beauté il y en a pour tous les goûts, du farniente sur la plage au mordu de la montagne. Voilà mes préférés:

1) L'apéro quotidien avec la Pietra, du bon saucisson et du fromage du coin. On se régale.

2) Conduire le long de la côte nord-ouest. Bon, la route est pourrie et ça tourne (car la route suit la découpe de la côte) mais les paysages sont superbes . Et comme on ne dépasse pas souvent le 40km/h on a le temps d'en profiter.

3) La plage. On ne s'est baigné qu'une seule fois et on a choisi une petite plage perdue au fond d'un trou. La plage de ficagola dans le golfe de Porto.

4) Rentré à l'intérieur des terres pour apprécier la montagne et la forêt d'Aitone. En route vous croiserez bon nombre de chèvres, vaches et autre cochons sauvages. Ne les écrasez pas.

5) L'église de Murato. Elle a été construite en deux couleurs: pierres blanches et pierres vertes foncées. Vraiment remarquable.

6) La visite de Bonifaccio (à faire de préférence avec le soleil, nous n'avons pas eu cette chance). Si vous vous en sentez le courage, vous pouvez descendre les 187 marches de l'escalier du Roy d'Aragon et vous vous retrouvez ainsi au pied de la falaise, sous la ville. Bon ensuite il faut les remonter et ça c'est une autre paire de manches.

7) La rando jusqu'à la tour du Capo Rosso et l'escalade de la tour pour avoir une vue imprenable sur le golfe de Porto (qui est classé à l'UNESCO)

8) Canyoning dans le canyon de Bavela. Apparemment le plus beau canyon de Corse. L'eau était un peu froide mais on s'est quand même bien régalé. C'est genre Walibi mais dans la nature.
