Newfane, Vermont, United States
We woke this morning in our Walmart site at 8am - store was open, and business active.  Dogs walked along the edge of parking and emptied trash in the handy trash cans.  Then back on the road, arguing with GPS - it said left, I said right and that meant I had to figure out my own way onto the freeway!  But I got there quicker than the roundabout trip she gave us last night!  We made it back into Maine and to Stonewall Kitchens at 9:45am, breakfast being served til 10:30 am - I ordered the blueberry stuffed French Toast and Linda had an egg/avocado/bacon/spinach/basil pesto aioli on English muffin.  Both were delicious - to think we thought of splitting a meal, but ended up eating each meal without a scrap of leftover.  Nice patio was perfect for dogs, couple others there as well!  We stopped in to view the production line (spotless stainless steel production line) and the cooking school where they were preparing to have a Champagne Breakfast class.  The list of cooking classes looked like great subjects, and you get to eat what is prepared.  The catalog shows at least 1-2 classes per day with many guest chefs sponsored for different cooking segments.  We were there til 11:30 and decided not to try driving into York again since the Kitchens were packed with cars and tourists - glad we got there early!  BTW, they do have a Big Green Egg outside the Cooking School so they must use that also.  But even getting onto I-95 south towards Portsmouth, traffic was bumper to bumper - heading towards Boston?  Twenty miles later we headed west and left the traffic behind - a beautiful drive through New Hampshire with signs of fall - red leafed trees around lakes, rivers.  Then we came into Vermont and saw covered bridges and cute New England towns.  We are visiting friends I met while camping in Phoenix, and they live in an idyllic mountain home in Newfane, VT.  We came up Steep Dr, a dirt road and name appropriate!  Apparently, there was another way, but obviously my GPS hates me!  The dogs are crazy idiots, being allowed to run free in the open land.  It is so nice to catch up with Donn and Carol, such a nice couple. Oh, and of course, I did have to catch my RV on a rock wall entering the camping field, but the view and company are worth it all!  Just add it to my list of issues this trip!  We’re planning an early morning walk on the mountain so time to get to bed!  Cool air and wine/pizza dinner make for early bedtime!!  Beware of bears near the apple trees in our campground :)
