Holden, Maine, United States
After all the partying last night in the campground, it was dead quiet this morning.  Linda says the music played til 1:30 am, 4 hours by the same couple singing and dancing.  Pretty good performance I’d say.  This morning I took advantage of a free shower, the first we’ve had in Canada!  Hot water, too!  Then we packed up and started driving south on the TransCanada Hwy 2 - no traffic, wide open road.  We stopped in Woodstock, New Brunswick at a pub on the St John River to spend our last Canadian $ - Jigger fish and chips and Linda’s favorite sweet potato fries were a perfect lunch on the river, and dogs allowed on the patio!  Then we headed for the border, crossing from Belleville, New Brunswick to Houlton, Maine - a brief stop in Maine tourist office then on to Bangor (only about 4 hours driving if we had not stopped).  We considered stopping overnight at Walmart, but found we would reach Bangor by 6pm and that seemed to early to go to Walmart - you try to park at Walmart later, and get out early since there’s not much to do in the parking lots :). Linda found a KOA campground east of Bangor that is 40 miles from Acadia National Park, and had a doggie daycare across the street - unfortunately, doggie daycare is not accepting new clients, so we will try another daycare, or plan to take the dogs.  Acadia’s trails are friendly for dogs, but there is a huge parking problem in the park, and shuttle buses are encouraged so dogs would inhibit that ride!  For now, settled into our KOA campsite, sipping my wine, reading up on Maine!  Salad for dinner, and Linda made brownies, so life is good!
