Rivière Noire, Rivière Noire, Mauritius
We are now suffering the tail end of a cyclone that tore through Madagascar killing 14 people and although it is several 100 miles south we have fast moving showers and waves crashing into the reef. So not a beach day. How about a walk in the Black River gorge I opined. We arrived to find the road and gorge closed due to all the recent bad weather so instead we had an early lunch at the Vanilla Bean cafe that we had passed many times on our way to The Morne.A collection of Nissen style huts set amongst trees with a cock and hens running about. We had to repair indoors due to the rain. the waitresses brought our food under umbrellas. Kate bought a locally made willow pattern plate just in case we hadn't got enough at home. Miranda will bring it back in the summer. They also had a lovely selection of home made cakes which seduced us,just right for tiffin as we gear up for our journey to India on Saturday.
Last night, after looking at our options and an exchange of e-mails with our travel agents STA Travel we have decided to go to japan instead of china when leave Sri Lanka and rejoin our planned itinerary in Hong Kong where, for the moment,uk citizens don't need a visa .
We have had some good news from Sacha who, upon his return to Edinburgh ,found that he had passed his wine and spirit exams with distinction.
