Hi folks,
After a pleasant but rainy night stay at Rookesbury Park CAMC site near Portsmouth we headed for the ferry terminal.
I have read some real horror stories, however I was confident we had all the necessary paperwork to show the check in staff, I had even completed an updated Spanish health form the night before to be within the 48 hours of landing. Suffice to say we embarked and disembarked with no problem at all, Bonnie even travelled on her new Spanish passport, no expensive UK Animal Health Certificate needed.
Our first stop is on a free aire in a quaint little Spanish town called Elorrio, about 30 miles east of Bilbao. We took a walk into the town to get some tokens for the electric up hook and fresh water, this is quite normal apparently but new to us of course! It took me ten minutes in the tourism office as the young lady wanted to tell me all about the area and practice her English. I said Goodbye in Spanish and then got another lesson educating me on the fact we are in Basque Country, and the Spanish language as we know it is frowned upon, Adios became Adul, oh well every day is a school day. There is a lot to see around the area with good walks and cycle rides, the place is steeped in history.
As it was when I got back to the aire and plugged in the electric cable it was already live and stayed that way for the duration and water was also free. We stayed two nights and moved on heading South.
Stay safe folks
