Cueva de la Virgen, Region of Murcia, Spain and Canary Islands
Hi folks,
It’s been a while but that’s because we found this little rustic site tucked away on a beach road not for from Aguilas, a quick phone call and we headed here. It’s a small site with about thirty pitches, a shower and toilet block incorporated into a large ISO container and fresh water available from taps around the place that have padlocks on them, pay the €3 and the tap gets unlocked! The showers are a euro for three minutes and I’ve been once, it took a euro for the water to get hot and another euro to get a wash, Maureen has not even bothered! However don’t think we are sat here stinking, we’ve used our own shower on a daily basis and as we don’t have to move the MH to get water, it works a treat, we have a waste container on wheels which enables me to empty the tank regularly.
The site is next to a beach with its own chiringuito which unfortunately is shut over winter. There are loads of other small beaches in the area and the nearest town is Calabadina, it has a good supermarket and a coffee shop on the beach but that’s it. We haven’t been able to keep up the habit of going for a dog walk and stopping off for a beer although we did walk into the town once and have a coffee. We’ve also walked all over the local area with Bonnie being worn out every day! The bikes have been used quite a bit, making sure of course that they are fully charged! Won’t make that mistake again although here is flat so no great strain on battery power.
On the other side of the site are masses of lettuces growing, it seems that there are only a couple of blokes looking after the vast spread, whilst out walking we came across their boots, we have seen this elsewhere, maybe at the end of the day it’s how they mark where they have got up to in the field?  We also came across a boat being used as a house, nowhere near the sea, it’s about 500 metres inland in its own little compound we’ve seen some great sunsets and a couple of sunrises but what we have noticed is the constant wind, however it seems to be the same across Spain this season!
We had planned to leave here next week and start our trip heading up to Calais to catch the eurotunnel, however…… we had a message from Paul and Jane, a couple we met in Javea a couple of years ago. They have just come out in their new MH and are having problems having been low loaded to Valencia, so we are going on a morale boosting detour to visit them for three nights, that journey starts in the morning. As you can imagine today has already been a tad busy, taking down our ‘igloo’, packing away stuff and getting the washing done, on the way out tomorrow we will detour via Aguilas to fill up with gas and food. Then northwards to ‘Nomadic Valencia Camping’, the joys of motorhoming.

Wondering where you had got to! Glad to hear you are still enjoying yourselves and finding new places. Can't wait to go over to Spain in February, regulations allowing of course. Nice photos, Can't beat a good sunrise or sunset. XX
