Roquetas de Mar, Andalucía, Spain and Canary Islands
Hi folks,
After a very quiet and peaceful 12 nights on Savannah Park we moved on to a camper stopover at Playa Las Salinas, Roquetas de Mar. I was a bit sceptical as reviews I read said it was very popular and hard to get a space, oh well, got to give it a go. We had a good journey from Sorbas but it was noticeably very windy as we got closer.
Oh no…… we got to the entrance to find no motorhomes and no parking signs on a very empty car park! We decided to go round the circuit again, somebody would have mentioned if it had been closed to motorhomes, on approaching the second time we noticed another large area off to the side with about a dozen motorhomes scattered around on it. Yeah, let’s get on here shouted the co-pilot and so we did. The area normally houses some 200 units but it’s barely in double figures and right now there’s no more than 15, mostly French and German although there were two other Brits here. In essence it is a massive area of undeveloped land right next to the promenade.
Off we went for our first dog walk and came across a coffee shop, be rude not to so we did, and then had a meander back passing public toilets that are open during the day and beach showers where folk were filling water bottles to take back to their vans. It’s not a bad stopover at all apart from …… the wind. It is horrendous, being in the motorhome is like being on a small boat, even though the legs are down there’s a lot of swaying going on. Bonnie has had to battle against the wind, getting blown around as she does, the good thing is it has worn her out so sleep has been the order of the day, all day.
Tomorrow we are moving down the coast, about half an hour away to the port of Almerimar, a marina on one side and beach on the other. The weather report doesn’t mention a 50mph wind, here’s hoping there isn’t. We are still making our way to Algeciras and still have fingers crossed to cross into Morocco in the middle of the month.

Great account Kenny, love the cloud and palm tree photo, interesting times. Almerimar was a great stop for us 4 years ago, hope they still do free tapas with each drink! Saved us cooking one nigh. xx

Hi you 3. Lovely to see you’re enjoying different areas of Spain. Sad that you’re quite close to Los Escullos, but, we can’t meet up. How long are you planning on staying in Morocco? Any chance you’ll come and stay in Los Escullos again? XX

Hi look like you are having a good time in your new Motorhome, remember the Motorhome park at Roquetas a few years back must have had 100 plus units on it we stayed on a camp site.near there. We are at Torre del Mar until next week going home back in the new year. There is a new camp/ aire just near us right on the beach if you want details I’ll send on an email all the best for Morocco.
