Rioseco de Soria, Castile and León, Spain and Canary Islands
Hi folks,
We have only been out of Spain since March but had forgotten how pleasant it is to drive over here, very few other vehicles and roads without potholes. I always find it strange that when we pass through the little villages there are no people, they are either away doing the farming stuff or hiding till we get through, or maybe there are just no people?
Anyway, it was very pleasant 165 miles before arriving at Rioseco de Soria. The coordinates we were working from took us into a side street in the village and the aire was not showing on google earth, however the co-pilot was on top of the game, she had spotted the place about 100 metres away. We took a walk. There was a massive boulder blocking the entrance it’s closed the co-pilot said! No look over there, there was another road leading into the far end, I went to retrieve the motorhome and Maureen chose a space, that was the easy bit as we were on our own.
Parked up easy enough, we noticed a padlock on a metal door on the pillar next to the motorhome. I went back to the notice at the entrance and the key to gain access to the electric was available from the restaurant. We hadn’t picked up on the fact that there was electric! Off we went and unfortunately he did beer in ice cold glasses, which of course, putting a bit into the local community we had to try. Very nice.
We got the key leaving a €20 deposit and were informed the cost of the aire was €3 per night, bargain. Remembering as caravanners doing this trip we were paying upwards of €20 per night. Anyway we plugged in, got ourselves sorted, fed ourselves and as it got dark we went for a walk around the village. It’s either had a very good refurb or a lot of it is new, the aire definitely is. Guess what? Apart from at the restaurant there were no people!
We overnighted in a very quiet place, no dogs barking, no cockerels and after returning the key and having a coffee we moved on again heading south
