Horse parking

Jocotepec, Jalisco, Mexico
Wanted to get a pic of the church, but just to the right of the entry there's a cab stand! Got there early, but the cabs were already there. The outstanding thing about this church is the space in front of the church door: it looks more like a park, with benches and shrubs and trees. People hang out there all the time. To the left, in the first pic, there's a strip of small shops (south side of plaza), so that the church square is almost an extension of the town square.

So, today I give you a pretty good look at the park. It's really more of an adult park; only a small section for children. The building is divided into two sections, end to end, with mostly food stands, and restrooms. I'm going clockwise from the southwest corner of the park.
(click on a pic, then you can see them enlarged and in a slide show
   - the map on the upper right in each blog is also interactive)

Went back to my room, gathered my laundry, took it to the lavenderia. Don't know if there are self-service ones; all the ones I've seen so far have been full service: wash, dry, fold, and bag. $3.80 for a load. Didn't see hanger service (maybe if you bring in your own hangers).

Lunch time. Decided to try the birria from a different vendor. There are actually three of them, each on a different side of the square. This one was much better tasting. I decided to quit while I was ahead and never tried the third one.

Went walking around some more. I'm really impressed with all that's done by hand.

Not much of a 'cityscape', but there are no high spots (other than climbing on top of someone's house) to get a view from. You can glimpse the top of the church spire; the plaza being just beyond it.

Full length view from the south end of town to the mountain in the north. This is on the west side of town (not the nicest section).

Back in the heart of town, I went shopping: picked up toothpaste in one shop, shampoo in another; took them back to my room, then headed out to dinner.

Went to the place that was closed last night. It's a more upscale place (didn't take any pics - guess I wasn't that impressed). It's the most modern place I've eaten: lots of chrome and glass, very clean and bright, double tablecloths. I think they're going for the expat crowd. Tried their Vacio; tougher than at La Carreta. Same prices.

Walked around. Got an ice cream. Back to my room. Work on the blog. Read a little. ZZZzzz
