Chapala boardwalk and park

Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico
7:40 First bell.

I shut the TV at midnight; thought I'd be nice to my neighbor. He didn't turn his off until 3 am! And at 2 am, he and his sweetie got it on! I couldn't go to sleep so I worked on a blog 'til about 2 am. So this morning I think I rolled out about 9:30.

I showered, did some laundry, did a little research, got ready to go to Chapala.

Got on the bus to Chapala around 12:30, arriving there around 1 pm. I wanted to check out the park, so I headed in the general direction from where I got off the bus, but they were doing some street work and had that particular area fenced off.

So I kept on walking and ended up on the boardwalk.

It may be a little nicer than Ajijic's, or maybe not.

After about 45 min., I wanted some lunch. So I took another stroll up and down the market area. Most places didn't sell anything for less than $4; I didn't want to spend a lot of money and wasn't hungry enough for a large plate.

Had quesadillas and a Corona.

Then I made my way around to the park.

A little bit more stuff to play with than Ajijic, but Ajijic's park is cleaner, more artistic.

Took a few photos of the town (see below or run slide show).

Back in Ajijic and after 6pm, so it's dinner time.

Tried another semi recommended place, right on the lake.

I can't believe they have a live tree growing right up through the men's room!

I'd overheard someone in another restaurant talk about 'molcajetes', so that's what I tried this time. It's a stone bowl (see menu) that stays bubbling hot at least halfway through your meal (especially good for slow eaters like me!) I had the Chile Rellenos, and it was pretty good. $6 Marg $2.70 Beer $1.80

Took a little walk, then went up to my roof for sunset shots. Lots of beautiful clouds, but no color. Except for the balloons! I just kind of gazed around waiting for the clouds to change, and - there's something in the eastern sky!
Cranked up my zoom lens and just got a shot at it before it got too far up. Didn't see any more, so I turned my attention back to the west. After a little bit I looked back east - and there's another one! And then another one pops up! Hard to shoot these long distance moving targets: they were at least 300 feet in the air. No idea what they were about.
