We
started the day by getting brunch at the vending machine ramen joint we first
went to in Asakusa – ‘Nadai Fujisoba’. Yum!!
Hunger
satiated, we made our way to the Skytree where there was an official Ghibli Shop which our Ghibli
fans were happy to wander in and purchase from!
From
the Skytree, we headed back to Ryogoku. Dad and the boys went to a Flea Market (where
Dad bought a cool felt hat) and the girls wandered around the station area
finding a ‘100 yen shop’ and later Mum went to the Sumo Museum where there was a frenzy of activity (as today
was the first day of the Sumo Tournament). Many of the competitors were leaving
the venue and the paparazzi were out for autographs and photos. Mum got some
great up close photos of some sumo wrestlers.
The
Edo-Tokyo Museum was next. It was interesting to see old and new Tokyo and to learn about
their influences.
We
then headed back towards the Tokyo Dome where Dad and Anai braved the notion and
had a go on the Thunder Dolphin Rollercoaster ride.
They said it
was scary and had their eyes closed for 95% of the time! Shae and Owen had a turn
in the Bubble Ball.
Last
stop for our last day in Tokyo was The Hotel Otani which had beautiful Japanese
Gardens.
After
this, Mum and the kids went home to Waseda to pack whilst Dad went out to Haneda
Airport to pick up his device which was left in the plane on our
Business Class fight. Dad got home at 1.30am!
