In the early hours of the morning
when everyone was sound asleep the Royal Princess made a series of west and
north-westerly courses as we approach the port of St Thomas, which we will do
so from the south east. This time I missed being on the balcony to see the
local pilot but was woken round 6am from the swell as the ship made its way
through the buoyed channel to berth at Crown Bay Marina Port at approx. 7am.
No tours today seeing we will be
back on the 5 April to site see then. Today I will catch-up on emails at the
Internet Café at The Duty Free Shopping Centre in the Cruise Port. Young chap
at the café helped me with phoning a New York number Italk Travel had printed
in-case one had any problems while overseas in USA. Waste of time they passed
the buck about the problem with Embassy Suites and said to contact our Travel
Agent, which I already have. Not happy about cancelling 29 March (no refund)
and paying for 8 April.
Internet is very slow but managed
to book a discount two room suite At Embassy Suites with an attached message
about paying for 5 days and not 4 days (NO refund for cancelling 29 March).
Checked all emails and replied to Mandy. Thankful she is on the ball for us and
keeping me up to date with the Travel Agent re cancelling 29 March and getting
in touch with Phyllis or trying too.Later instead of the 25 minute
walk round Long Bay to downtown Charlotte Amalie we paid US$8 for an open air
Safari Taxi ride. Walked down Main Street where all the Duty Free shops are.
First off Boolchand’s to discuss binoculars and digital cameras, next Crocs to
check on prices and lastly Royal Caribbean where Richard bartered on price with
the Indian owners for the Canon PowerShot SX700 HS digital camera and Steiner
Predator Binoculars. Richard managed a discount with extras thrown in for the
camera, plus did the initial preparation of setting up the camera for me to
take photos. Next we went on a 20/25 minute brisk walk round Long Bay to Foot
Locker in Lockhart Gardens Shopping Centre at Yacht Haven Grande to buy a pair
of Asics Runners. Long hot walk for nothing as they didn’t stock Asics products
but we did go to Kmart for cottonwool balls and my Covergirl lip gross, which
is half price to what I pay at Joondalup.Good brisk walk back to Crown Bay
Cruise Port to Royal Princess where it was a joy to receive the cold refreshing
towel before we boarded the Gangway to the ship. Cooled down on our balcony,
changed then Richard went for a swim in the pool on Deck 16 while I paid a
visit to the Laundromat on our Deck12 to do the weekly washing and ironing
before the disembarking passengers did theirs.Tired after our long day of
walking and shopping in Charlotte Amalie, so we decide to retire after dinner
and not go to the Atrium to listen to the music.
