Paris III

Paris - Sacre Coer Sacre Coer
Ever walked tiny cobblestone streets and having artists everywhere, only to see a sparkling white church on a hill and when you sit on the steps overlooking Paris and you feel like you're on vacation. Then you are at Sacre Coer in Paris and we went there too and enjoyed the view and liked to pick out all the places we already went and still want to go….
  • Sacre Coer is on Montematre – the Mount of Martyrs: the highest point of the city
  • Already the Druids had a sacred place here and they found old steps on the hill
  • The church was build dedicated to the Sacred heart as a penance for the misfortune France had spiritual rather than political (Germany occupied France in 1870) - In 1875 the 1st stone was laid

Paris - La Grand Arc La Grande Arche
  • It’s in straight line to the Arc the Triumph
  • It’s in the business district of Paris
  • It’s the modern version of the Arc de Triumph
  • Built in 1989 a monument for humanity not for a military victory
Here you are in a total modern area… funky modern sculptures, brand-new glass buildings, and then this amazing arch with straight view to the old Arc de Triumph….
We went up with the glass elevators, real funky cool when you go up always with nice view and then enjoyed the amazing view from the top too
And since it was raining today: we got ourselves a Paris umbrella… so we will never forget the top sights of Paris.

Paris - Louvre
The Louvre - Jardin de Tuilleries - Arc de Triomphe du Caroussel

  • The famous museum in Paris
  • Originally the Palace the Louvre was a fortress from the 12th century, and then rebuilt in the 16th century in Renaissance style as royal residence and became a museum in 1793
  • An amazing park between the Louvre and the Place de la Concorde
  • created in 1564 - filled with fountains and sculptures
  • with the Arc de Triomphe de Carussell built in 1808 by Napoleon to celebrate his visotries
Do we really want to stand in line, pay money and go inside to look at Art – no we decided we are not that much into Art and there is so much more of Paris we would like to see first, but we did had to come here, to walk along this amazing building with his 800 m long wings and the glass pyramid. Admiring all the sculptures and the views up and down the streets and parks. It was cool – we didn’t needed the inside.

Paris - arc de Triomphe Arc the triumph
  • Built in 1836 for Napoleons victory, it stands in the center of the Etoile (Star) roundabout
  • Underneath is the tomb of the unknown soldier: honoring the 1.3 Mill French soldiers who lost their live in WWI – he got lied to rest here in 1921 underneath the eternal flame
And also we entered via the underground tunnel this cool place and admiring the sculptures, or sitting down and looking up and down the roads. Also it was so cool to see it in the evening sun….

Pairs - Paul We found 'Paul’s café and bakery
During our days here we came by several times at Paul’s bakery… we had to have once a coffee with French pastry… to see if Paul is really that great!

Paris cheap!! On the way home
After a few full days in Paris… we are back to the Metro and this time towards the airport – our head is full with all what we saw. And we have to agree Paris is a special must see city.
