Picnic at the Summer Mountain – July 22, 2006But before we go the parade we need a nice lunch, so we are prepared: and with the wonderful summer weather, you can't have a lunch inside. So we drove up to the Summer Mountain bringing a picnic:
So we not only could enjoy the picnic but also a wonderful view.
Parade Metzingen - July 22, 2006Lucky for us, this year during the City festival – Stadtfest in Metzingen they had a parade, so for sure we were there too.
What is cool on the German Parades?
- It started out with the official speech and the balloon start
- Horse carts in different size and forms and let’s not forget a oxen cart
- Some cute tractors: from tiny 2-wheel holder, to the Mini tractor, the barrel tractor, the older farm tractors used and the historic Lantz
- The typical German volksmusik – the Humbaba-music
- The kindergartens showed different trades which are very common here: like the bakers, the vineyard workers, the butchers, the shepherds and the carrots from the farmers, the baking house ladies, the apple cider makers
- The schools showed us the fire, earth and water as well as different countries: like Italy, the Indians, the Chinese
- Traditional old costumes: like the Swabian Dirndl in different styles
- And let’s not miss the fire brigade truck and a canon
