Travel Day

 
This morning we awoke at 5:30 to prepare for an early departure at 6:45, the campground was resurfacing their roadways and if we did not leave by 7:00 AM we would be trapped inside the campground until 7:00 PM; it was therefore necessary for us to leave by 7:00 AM . We stopped for a breakfast meal in a Walmart parking lot before proceeding eastward. Traveling east on I-80 in California was pleasant as we traveled through pine forests, and even at the higher elevations over “Donner Pass” the scenery was enjoyable. However, entering the Nevada mountains the scenery changed to a brown and barren landscape, and the ride east became very boring. We stopped for the night in the town “Battle Mountain” at “Clark Park”. As we set up camp at 6:00 PM the temperature is 102 degrees.
