Dajarra, Queensland, Australia
Leaving the mining town of Mt Isa we head south west to Dajarra, not knowing a thing about it. The maps indicate there are no bush campsites along the way which is unusual, but true. The landscape is both harsh, changing and truly beautiful.

The road begins windy and hilly, but soon we are on a plain running parallel to the ranges which angle North South . Along the way, well, just look at the photos!

We pull into Dajarra about 3:45pm, set up camp in a public park beside town and walk the 80 metres to the Dajarra Pub. A Sheraton it's not, but boy does it have character. A plucky little Swedish bar lady serves us and we settle in for a few quiet sundowners.

The speciality of the night is fish'n'chips wrapped and served in paper, eaten with fingers, that's us! We are joined by another couple from Perth who are camped nearby, and it turns out he ran a tour company in Europe and we have several friends in common. A very pleasant evening with a few more drinks.

The stars are brilliant, the Milky Way lite up like the Sydney Harbour Bridge on New Year! A top days travel.
