Turks Caicos, Turks and Caicos
Happy Birthday Skipper Bryan!

We woke up to cloudy skies and wind but no rain and it's supposed to clear off a bit today but not a pool day . Bryan was going to go Scuba Diving but with this wind he wouldn't get to the really great wall dives so he is waiting for Monday to have a Birthday Dive. I'm booked in for a massage at 10 after my workout and Bryan is going to install an electric bilge pump that is not my idea of a fun Birthday task but he just loves to tinker :-)

We listen to the morning weather forecast everyday and Steve the weather man says "Whether you go or whether you stay depends on the weather" this is the line we live by. I'm learning patience on this trip, cruising means you just go with the flow of the winds.

I have to say that was one of the best massages I've had and I got a recommendation for dinner. The masseuse was a former chef and she gave me the name of what she says has the best food on the Island, so we drove there to check it out. Looks like a nice place big menu and good wine list so we are booked there for this evening . We had a very productive day of touring around more shopping, we take the car back in the morning so wanted to fit it all in today. Bryan is booked for scuba diving on Sunday morning, I know he's excited about that, they pick him up at the marina so nice and easy, apparently all the diving here are wall dives which is great. We stopped in Grace Bay area again for some tacky tourist photo's what would a vacation be without those.

From there we made out way to the "Doit Center" yes that is the name very much like a home depot so of course the Skippers Birthday continued to be great...next to West Marine it's his favorite place to be :-)

Mango Reef was our dinner location here is my review. Great atmosphere lots of out door seating on the beach with twinkle light setup and an outside bar. You can make reservations but not pick the seating so first come first serve on that. The inside seating is good too but I'd pick a non windy night and sit outside. As for food the menu is huge lots to choose from but if you are looking for a nice freshly prepared meal it's not that, more pub like Sysco style food now that is not a problem unless you can't eat corn lol. Bryan had grilled lobster and cracked conch appy he said it was good. I had coconut shrimp and mahi mahi fish not good their first try had the fish sitting on a nice bed of veggies and kernel corn! you get the idea of where the meal went from there. Oh well good rice and beans :-)

On our way back in the shuttle we chatted with a nice couple from Seattle of course football conversation started they are season ticket holders so had lots to say.

A great day and evening!

Between the picture of the chess/checker board and your weather remarks... I see your "training" at Herriot Bay is serving you well! :)

Hey Vic
The restaurant was Mango Reef I will blog about it, it is in the Alexandra resort a sister property of Blue Haven the atmosphere is great if you have a calm night no wind dinner on the beach and their beach bar looked great! We sat inside still nice but the food...ugh not good. Huge menu first clue to a bad meal, so I'd say most of the meals were mostly cooked then reheated so over cooked fish. If you go keep to the pub style food and you'll love it! I was hit with corn :-( Where is the condo you are staying at?

Oh yes Helen, Herriott Bay was good training I've learned as a cruiser you just have to go with what the weather will let you do...destinations change but the journey is fun.
