Staniel Cay, Out Islands, Bahamas
Good morning sunrise, another early morning for me such a gorgeous time of the day. I was awake at 2am to the sound of the mooring ball and our lines squeaking and water slapping then managed to drift off again until 6. Looks to me like the waters have calmed down so I'm sure we will be leaving this morning.

We left the park at 9:30 ish the waters are great wind at our back and we made really good time over to Staniel Cay . It is very protected here we were lucky to get one of the last two mooring balls so we got all tied up and ready to spend the afternoon here. The weather was great really hot with some clouds. Our first step was to take our dingy into shore to the registration office time to explore and sign in. Very nice small yacht club great little bar, restaurant, tiny liquer store or shall I say closet and gift store. There are several cottages around the marina for rent so it is a vacation destination location. A small airport and runway brings guests over from Fort Lauderdale and quick flight which ranges from $200 to $500 depending on sales.   We went for a walk on the island looking for the local grocery store we finally found the big one and by big I mean a small store by our standards, the staff were busy stocking the shelves with food as the food boat had just arrived so they were not open for business, so we turned around and walked back to their smaller market which was also busy stocking shelves but definitely appreciated our business and had no issues selling us some bread and water :-)  The walk was very slow for me as I stubbed my big toe pretty bad before we left the boat, crap I will definitely lose that nail but happy the toe is not broken…ugh .

We have decided to eat at the restaurant for dinner they have 2 seating 6:30 and 8:00PM you have to pre order your food before 5pm. We made our way over there around 6 for drinks at the bar first, we met the food and beverage manager Jennifer a super nice lady she filled us in on their latest updates and expansions to the place apparently they had recently invested 3 million to update the place. There is a small Island in bay The Grotto Caves which is a tourist spot but the tides were high and waves were big so from our dingy we could really see much. Another big draw to this place are the swimming pigs, the pigs were brought to the Island by some settlers and have adapted well to the salt water life, people come from all over to swim with them and feed them scraps. They are apparently very friendly but a bit aggressive when you run out of food, we will go by and feed them tomorrow before we leave. I tried to go for a swim in the afternoon but the current runs really fast in this bay so they tied a rope on me to be sure I didn’t float away it was so funny needless to say I didn’t get far but it was a nice dip in the gorgeous green / blue ocean.

Dinner was great mahi mahi grilled very tasty. The meals started with corn meal muffins, soup and salad that is standard with all meals and you choose your main. After dinner we enjoyed a game of pool on a very small old table but it was a blast, what a great bar. We made our back to the boat in the dark, we have a head lamp to help us light the way, lesson learned when you are the one in charge of wearing head lamp you must not turn your head to chat as you may blind your mates …oops. A very good night.
