Roberto said he had some things he needed to do at home, but that he'd be back in about ten days. Martin was out taking care of some business. So I went for a walk down to the beach.  

I strolled around, getting familiar with the shops and restaurants. I bought some groceries and came back to the house. Not long after, Martin came by and asked me if I needed anything. I asked him if he would take me to the adjoining town (Guayabitos) to this general store. I was trying to find some ice trays, and hadn't found any in La Peñita. Martin said most people don't use ice, and if they do, they just buy a 20lb bag of ice cubes and stick them in the freezer. But he took me where I wanted to go (too far to walk, I was going to take a cab) and I found a package of three trays for under $3; not a bargain, but at least I now had ice. Martin asked me if I wanted to go anywhere else, and I said I just wanted to take my purchase back to the house.  

Got back. We chatted for a bit. Then Martin said it was time for him to take a shower before going to see his grandchildren (Martin is in his mid-40s).   

I munched on some ham and cheese while watching the clouds roll in to ruin my sunset.  

But - had a sunset in spite of the clouds!  

I'd bought a bottle of wine to go with my cheese and crackers but I forgot the corkscrew. So I headed back down the hill to the main shopping area, found a corkscrew and a knife (no utensils or dinnerware in the casita - it's for sale, not for rent), headed back to the house, and caught the first drops of rain for the night. It rained for a while, increasing the humidity. There's no AC, but there are ceiling fans. It's cool enough in the morning, but to be comfortable the rest of the day requires a couple of cold showers (no hot water) and a fan to keep a breeze going.  

Watched a Netflix movie. Went to bed.
