Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, Mexico
Got out about 5:30am. Temp was good humidity was less than it has been. Went for a long (about 3 hours) walk, starting out along part of the lagoon, and going down to the port. There’s a small park like area down toward the port with nice walkway and workout stations. Quite a few people out there.

Anyway, I made a loop covering different streets than I did yesterday. Didn’t see anything real interesting. I do like Lázaro better than the other cities I’ve seen. Things are more spread out. Businesses aren’t jammed one on top of another. Streets are wider. More avenues. Seems like less poverty. But it’s not a tourist town: no beach, no fancy shopping, nothing much to do; just a decent place to live. Don’t know how the locals make it, if I’m to believe the security guard at the bus depot: he says he works a 12 hour shift for $12 - total!

Who remembers this one?

Check this out! Bring your ice chest and pump it full of ice. This must be the non-purified stuff: just for icing down fish, etc at the market.

Went up to the roof (above the fourth floor) of the hotel, for sunset pics.

These trees are within the hotel, next to the pool. They're even taller than any buildings in the area.

So I got back, showered, got my stuff together, and moved to the other hotel. Wifi speed in the lobby seemed pretty good, but when I got to the room, it was crap. Went back down to the lobby, and it was worse than the other place I was at. Should have stayed where I was.

So I went to the OXXO and picked up a couple of sandwiches, chips and cookies. I’m going to stay in, pretty much finish off my rum and coke while munching out, because I’m moving on tomorrow.

So here I sit, typing my blog in my word program, hoping for better luck in Ixtapa. It’s now 8pm. I want to get an early start tomorrow, so I won’t be up much longer.
