Happy Thanksgiving!

Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico

Went to bed at 10pm. Woke up at 3am. Decided to stay up, work on the computer a little.

Had a banana and apple juice for breakfast. As much as I enjoy dining out, there's a lot to be said for just staying in and taking it easy, not to mention the savings.

Sunrise was concealed by clouds and buildings, and I just didn't want to go walking this morning.

The weather continues to be quite nice: 9am, 80º, 68% humidity, very comfortable.

Spanish class was a little better, I think. Seems like I learned more, and more useful stuff.

Decided to eat out for lunch, even though I have plans for dinner. Stopped at this 'Turkish' place; had just a beer and a salad. I was wondering what I was going to do for a salad dressing, but the salad had a middle eastern dressing that was good, and a spoonful of hummus in the center. Not bad for $2. See...I try to eat healthy sometimes!

More computer research, and maintenance on some programs.

NOW it's time for dinner!

Unbelievably, this lady decided to cook up a turkey dinner for all the yanquis in the area.

I got a table and told the owner I didn't mind sharing, as I was by myself. A minute later this single guy walks up and asks to join me! Meet Paul, from B.C. Canada. We found a lot to talk about, as his experiences so far are a lot like mine.

Dinner was a very good effort for a Mexican. Started with a choice of soup or salad. Then turkey (choice of white, dark, mixed) covered with sautéed apple slices, mashed potatoes with gravy, sweet potatoes with marshmallows (no mini marshmallows around here) - don't know about the stuffing; forgot to ask about it; plenty to eat as it was (did you see the size of the salad?). Followed by dessert (cake with heavy cream). All for $8. $3 per glass of wine (chilean cab).

Never thought I'd be having a turkey dinner here! Guess I walked by right after she put up the sign yesterday. Looks like she had a decent turnout, even a couple of pickup orders, for doing this on short notice.

Lately, sunsets have been too cloudy. Tonight, skies so clear you couldn't get a ray to bounce of anything or give you color!

Good night everybody! Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving.
