Cyclone level 2

Black River, Black River, Mauritius
This morning we awoke to the news that the cyclone level had been raised to 2. All schools are closed,so the new academic year is delayed but the teachers have to go in to protect the school etc. All the village halls have become shelters and the emergency services have been deployed.
We have had to cancel our dinner engagement tonight so sacrifices all round! Of course the internet has crashed so no excuses for not taking down the sun umbrellas and bringing in the terrace furniture cushions .It is still very hot and humid with light rain falling and proper sea horses breaking on the reef just off shore. The wind whistles through the trees making the palm fronds sway dementedly. We made a dash for the supermarket at the bottom of the road for essentials as the cyclone level was likely to be raised in the evening. Slightly more worrying is that we have run out white wine so beer with our creole prawn curry tonight.
However we still had a nice, albeit subdued sunset as the rain still fell.
