This morning I would be leaving the Isle of Man and travelling south on the steam railway to Castletown to reach the airport at Ronaldsway. My day travel pass was only valid yesterday so I had to buy a one way ticket to Castletown for 9 pounds.
The trains ran every two hours and the first train was 10am. Unlike other trains that had row seating, this one had private compartments where you were locked inside. I had to ask how to get out. The conductor explained you pull a strap to drop the window to let him know to let us out.
It was an old style train with its whistle, chugging, and bellowing smoke. Reminded me of Thomas the Tank Engine or Ivor the Engine
As Castletown is a popular tourist stop they had kept the original waiting room as a free open museum. It was good to look around.
If I had more time it would be good to take the train to the end of the line and back.
