Today we were on a mission to find me some shoes to wear seeing as all I had was my geek shoes and flip flops - not really suitable for a festival and it gets cold at night so socks not allowed haha.
We went to this place at Retiro the big bus/train station
...yes the places they tell you to avoid so as not to get mugged but with the money in my safety purse...my bra....we headed off. Found what you might call the equivalent of JJB sports and got myself a pair of trainer like shoes - cheapest I could find that didn't weight too much as my pack is full to the brim! All they seem wear here is Adidas gear and also Converse stuff which sucks cause the brand name stuff is really expensive here.
Anyway we head back delighted at not being mugged once again - it actually isnt that bad it wasnt too busy but we have decided its really nothing different to being in London, you have to watch ur bag n stuff there too and if you look like a tourist your always more of a target anyway!! Hope this statement doesn't come back to bite me haha!
Finding the bus !
So after our hostel telling us that Creamfields is in the most dangerous area of Buenos Aires as its a favela we got them to sort us out a transfer bus to take us there and back.
We headed off to get the bus at 7.30pm and they had tool us to meet outside the tube at Madonna's ??? We get out the tube and we are in a huge busy area and no sign of anything called Madonna's, eeeeeeek having no phone on us we started asking these police type people we saw waving our wristbands we had at theme and our best spanish "donde" (this means where) haha - utterly useless - eventually we got one of them to call the number on the wristband but no answer aggggggg by now we had a wee crowd then it clicked when we say it
.....they meant MCDONALDS not fooking Madonna's !!!!!!!!!!!!! Nightmare - we got on the bus and we were off :-)
There at last...
We finally got there it was about 40 mins drive away in traffic, it was mental these lot sure knew how to party, we queued up for our lanyard and these guys were buying creamfields t-shirts like they were going out of fashion haha
Next stop was the beer tokens - the beer was extortionate it was £4.50 for a coca cola sized can of beer eeeeeek - it was however £3.75 for a decent sized glass of champagne - crazy.
Not long after arriving we banged into a bunch of english/irish people who as it turns out all lived in BA how totally random - so we hung around with them all night what a great laugh.
The festival was ace the people there had came from all over the country for this by god do they like to party and in Argentina big is beautiful and your clothes must be be worn 2 sizes to small to show it off too its crazy, have been to many festivals in my time but some serious amount of people watching we did here - seen every kind of fashion, mullet haircuts, perms like you have never seen and people that obviously got dressed in the dark haha was brilliant
.
They did however run out of bottles of water about 3-4 hours before the festival actually finished which was mad - they still had champagne though god knows how many bottles they must have went through and they also still had the energy drink "speed" who promoted the event - funny that eh !!
Where is that bus again???
So thank god someone spoke English on our bus in cause the bus driver didn't - he assured us he would be at the same place he dropped us off at !!!!!!! Well of course that wasnt the case - not only did the whole place look COMPLETELY different in the daylight in the morning but the bus wasnt there - once again we walked down checking all the other minibuses - again with the stupid bus wristbands in their faces "donde" we must have looked for about 20 mins before some guy waved us the other direction - you can imagine our delight when we found our bus woo hoo
Police?
There was not a taxi in sight so you can imagine the relief at finding the bus - we had also noticed there was not one bit of security or police once you were in the festival and more to the point there was none on the way out haha - people were all going home in their cars, hanging out the sunroofs with the tunes banging, people in minivans with the doors open dancing away inside it was crazy - if that had been in the UK you would be tucking in your car not wanting to draw attention to yourself - quite the opposite here!!
The long walk
...We eventually got dropped off where we started at Madonnas around 8am!!!! We decided to walk the 11 or so blocks as we had no room to go back to - the hostel had been full that night so we just checked out Fri seeing as we didnt need the bed sat night, stored our bags there and saved money so we treated ourself to a private room for checking in on sunday seeing as we will be burst lol.
After walking for some ridiculous time we realised we were walking the wrong way !!!!!!! Our feet had been on the move since 7pm the night before - we only sat down for about an hour at the end of the festival and now we were 11 blocks the wrong way haha - we about turned and walked the 22 blocks back home !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We could have got the tube but we would have only had to sit at the hostel longer - we took in the sights of all the homeless waking up to their bevvy - we wondered if they drank champagne too seeing as it was cheaper than beer here !!!!!!!!
We got back to the hostel and had to wait about 3 hours and finally got into our room - finally we got our shoes off - couldnt have took them off downstairs cause they stunk BAD haha - our feet were bruised and battered - the sign of a dam good night !!!!!!!
