So the main reason we decided to come as far down as Ushuaia was that Marc´s favourite DJ, Paul Oakenfold was playing here so we changed our plans and here we are the day had finally arrived it was time to party at the end of the earth.


Ticket collection with a difference ...
So if you dont ask you dont get so I pulled a few strings and before we knew it we were standing in Oakenfold´s hotel reception waiting for his tour manager to bring us down VIP tickets for the gig. The guy came down and we spent a bit of time chatting away with him he was asking about our travels and talking about when Marc first saw Oakey back in the day when he was 17 at the Courtyard!   Next min he says listen would you guys mind if we did a quick interview tonight on camera just to chat bout coming to ushuaia to see Oakey n stufff  so we of course agreed and headed back to our hostel to get ready to party.

The whole town was talking about it there were posters everywhere - for these guys it must have been amazing to have such a famous DJ in such a small place miles from anywhere they truly do love their music here.

Getting there
The event was to be held in a Ski resort 36km out of town literally in the middle of nowhere we queued for the shuttle but it was taking ages, 2 locals girls suggested we share a taxi so off went with us both swigging our wee coke bottles with some whisky in it were already half cut when we arrived .

Little did we know that the event was actually OUTSIDE - I couldnt believe it the night time temp is around -5 here and I was gonna wear a dress and take trousers to change into to come home - thank fook I didnt. It was utterly freezing, we headed into the VIP area where the waitress asked what we would like to drink, 2 beers please, she said sorry we dont have beer is champagne ok!!!!!!!!! Errr let me think....yes please!!! She come out with a bucket of champagne and asks if we want any food too. We are delighted the amount of champagne we get to drink in this country is great.

So we had our taxi booked with the girls to pick us back up at 0430 as Oaky was to be on at 2am but it was after this time that he eventually arrived in the room we were in with this giant fluffy hat on. Straight away he was introduced to us n we had all the travel chat with him he loved we were from Scotland and so far away to see him here in Ushuaia, I am sure he thinks we are a bit mental haha .  We asked if he was playing Ultra festival we are going to in Miami, which he said he thinks he is woo hoo and I had a feel of his fluffy hat it was super soft. Off he went then his camera guy shot a wee short video of us I cant even remember what we said we were reeking drunk by this point haha I dread to see us cheeesers on it if it ever makes it onto his website haha hilarious !!!

Backstage is the way forward...
So Oaky goes on stage and we headed down the front - Marc was in his element and we were dancing away for about half an hour when one of his crew pointed at us and told us to come round the side, delighted we ended up at the side of the decks partying the night away right by Oakys side. Every now n then he was bending down to drink his champagne, the crew had bottles of it everywhere too and by the end of the night everyone was pretty reeking. At one point Oaky launches himself at Marc jumping on his monitor speakers, check out the pic its hilarious Marc was left holding him up haha . At some other point he was shouting "Scotland" at us two and jumped over to kiss us both haha absolutely fantastic night to say the least for Marc it was just amazing.

Afterwards we went back to the VIP room with them all and we had now well missed our taxi as it was after 6am, we were in the middle of nowhere and certainly no taxis outside so if you dont ask you dont get...fortunately the tour manager guy was hilarious we had good banter with us and he said it was no problem for us to get back with them so there we were in Oakenfolds van with his crew blagging a lift home haha

We stagger into our hostel as all the "hikers" are going out on there walks it was too funy people come to Ushuaia to go on all these amazing treks - we just came to party haha

We are off to see him in Buenos Aires on the 3rd Dec hopefully VIP then again too
