A Boat up the Beagle !!

Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina
Check out the videos on this one !

We booked a boat trip to take us out on the Beagle Channel and decided on the sunset one - even though this departed at 7pm - the sun sets here around 11pm and rises at 4 .30am !

It had been fairly warm in town with our trousers and jackets on so I opted to leave my zipper behind - bad move.... we hadn't been out long before the cold set in brrrrrrrrr - lucky there was free beer and also tea to keep me warm hehe

There were only about 10 people on the trip so it was good atmosphere and got chatting to everyone which is nicer than the huge boat trips we have been on.

First stop is an island with loads of seals on it - the boat is able to pull right up beside these guys it was amazing they make some amount of noise too and it was absolutely stinking of fish !!!! You can hear them on the video below. They seemed oblivious to us and were diving off the rocks and swimming about.

We sail on some more - the scenery around us is utterly stunning, snow capped mountains all around us it was breathtaking.

Next up we stopped at another island which I though had penguins on it but they are actually Cormorants or sometimes called "shags" hehehehe - there were thousands of them on this island - they made some noise too I was told that this is their "sex noise" hehe you got to love the translations sometimes .

As close to hiking as we will get
We stopped at some other island where we got off the boat and spent around 20 mins climbing to the top of it - I was frozen by this point so a welcome climb up the hill to warm me up was just what I needed. The view from the top is amazing - half the mountains on one side are actually Chile.

We climbed back down and headed to shore getting in some local beer called Beagle and we pulled back in just as the sun was setting - this trip was totally amazing something completely different :-)

Costs
3-4 hour boat trip - £27 each
