El Calafate, Patagonia, Argentina

So our day started super early as the bus left at 5am so after a 15 min walk with our bags we got on the bus .

This route is a major pain as you have to leave Argentina then enter Chile then re-enter Argentina again due to it being the only road north which means customs and immigration at each stop. This involved us getting off the bus 4 separate times some of which involved getting out backpacks of to get scanned too and waiting in long lines while everyone gets their passports stamped.

Next up we had to get off again to get on a boat for 10 mins to cross to the next bit of road - I had heard from other people that you often see dolphins here and these being Marc's favourite animal we stood looking out at the calm sea in hope. We were half way across when I spotted one, then another and another, they were literally chasing the boat jumping out f the water loads, they were small black and white ones that are only found in Patagonia. Typically though I got a couple of shots and the camera battery died but there is a few second video clip of them below . It was amazing there were so many and so close to the boat - Marc was well chuffed.

We eventually got to Rio Gallegos at 4pm where we had to change bus and had 3 hours to wait, it was cold and to top it off there was literally nothing to do it was just the bus station and a supermarket no bar nothing. So we went for some sandwiches for dinner and waited.

We get on the next bus for the last 4 hours of the trip, we were treated to an amazing sunset the sky was all colours of orange and purple it was stunning (no camera). We finally arrived around 1am the hostel guy had come to meet us as there was a few of us we then had a 10 min walk uphill to the hostel...we are so unfit.

El Calafte
People only really come here for one thing, the Perito Moreno glacier there isn't really much else to do. Its a pretty little town with an amazing view of the lake which is so blue, we could see this from our room it was lovely .

The Ram
Our hostel had a pet ram which took a shine to Marc, I had a wee touch of it and and it was sooo soft n lovely it looks all yukky but it was lovely - anyway Marc and him were pals he came over when Marc went out for a fag - you can see in the pics Marc was giving him a wee cuddle but when he went to walk away the thing head butted his shin bone with those horns - poor Marc he doesn't have much luck if its not the cows in India its the wee ram, it was too funny his face was a picture - they made friends again before we left, apparently he does it to everyone - you would think they would put up a sign or something haha :-)

So we booked our tour on the glacier we head off tomorrow cannot wait
