Antofagasta, Antofagasta, Chile
Like an expectant father Tom started pacing early no news 10am
12oclock he off to BMW can not wait any longer.
12.30pm the part arrives so in the taxi I get
2pm Tom arrives back Mechanic gone to lunch
3.30pm Still no Mechanic
4pm Mechanic at last
6pm Drive fitted - now another problem
7pm stopped for the night back early tomorrow

By midday I had had enough waiting and walked up to the dealers so I felt I was doing something. This was the longest week of my life and I was going nuts.
The bike was there minus final drive supported on a scissor jack, to keep myself sane I started to clean the bike, then I noticed the silencer had a big dent in it. Spoke to Dennis who immediately made a few calls and confirmed the bike had slipped off the kack during moving it from the workshop. He promised to sort it out, then Tracy appeared in a Taxi with the new final drive, at last we may get out of here

The mechanic was out on a job will be back soon, after some waiting around he arrives decides to fit the drive behind the office so the bike is moved into the shade. it's now lunchtime so Dennis invites me to lunch but I decide to walk back to the hotel and return at 3.
Walk back arrive just after 3 nothing has happened and I lose it, Dennis makes some calls, Nelson has gone to the workshop to remove the rear disk from the old drive, he arrives at 4 and we start work. By 6 the drive is on, we start the bike, it's running really rough and keeps stalling, the gear indicator is not working and the neutral light is intermittent.
Nelson removes some air sensor and cleans it then the air filter. The filter was in a real mess with dust and bugs and even a dragon fly , it looked totally blocked. It was very embarrassing I had rode all through central and half way through South America on dirt roads and never cleaned the filter, what a jerk.
Once removed the engine ran much better but Dennis was unhappy to release the bike until it was checked. I cleaned the filter with the degreaser (carbon-tetrachloride) Dennis had used.
He promised to start the work at 8 the next morning, I said I would Google how re-oil the filter without the proper stuff, so once more I trudged back to the hotel for another night.

The bmw dealer was 2.5 miles from the hotel, total walked that day 15 miles
