Cruising to Hope Town

Hope Town, Out Islands, Bahamas
Good morning

Waking up to the sound of the waves gently hitting the bow of the boat is definitely one of the greatest things, I had a wonderful over 8 hour sleep again it is a very soothing sound .

The winds are a bit higher this morning but that shouldn't be a problem for our 10 mile run to Hope Town today, the sun is shining and looks like it might be our hottest day today the weather folks of the world are predicting 28 oh I hope so :-)

It turned out to be a spectacular day! After enjoying a lovely bacon and egg breakfast compliments of Marjorie and Craig thank you so much what a treat; we pulled anchor and slowly cruised over to Tilloo Cay. The swells and waves were really large for a short while a very small area with no reef protection we were all very glad that we were not on the other side...the swells were at least 6 feet...rock and roll! It calmed down right away and it was a lovely calm cruise we passed many small cays which had lovely homes on them, Tahiti beach looked incredible with a very large sand bar which apparently is home of gorgeous sand dollars . We set anchor and decided to snorkel first to see what was down there before a possible dive. The water was pretty cool so Marjorie wore my shortie wet suit which helped alot and I wore a swim shirt. I liken the water temp to swimming in our local rivers! Not much to see on the snorkel adventure lots of grass and sand but we did see a few fish and the happy looking trunkfish and a small turtle.

Back to the boat and desalted, had lunch and made our way over to Hope Town. You want to arrive at a higher tide so we were all tucked in early around 2pm. Hope Town is a quant village located on Elbow Cay, it is a small bay packed full of smaller marina's, shops, restaurants and anchorages. The facilities here are lovely, a pool, swim up bar, small area for ping pong and boci...our boat neighbors were friendly and appear to have been here a while they were a great wealth of information. We enjoyed a couple of hours at the pool taking advantage of our hottest day 80F yahoo. Dinner at the Marina restaurant was very good the catch of the day was grouper it is a meatier fish but very tasty.

Back on the boat no dice tonight just some great conversations.
