Elbow Cay, Hope Town, Bahamas
Another amazing day in the Bahama's! Julie and Wayne started their day with a walk around Hope Town and breakfast at Captain Jack's apparently it was an experience...deep fried bacon and hash browns oh my perhaps not on the list for next time. I started my day with a light house workout I jogged the stairs 11 times so increasing my reps...911 stairs :-) we all met up and went up to the top again to enjoy the views it really is stunning up there. From there a quick stop at the marina store and then off we went for a mini cruise.

We made our way over to Sandy Cay for a snorkel it was a real experience . 1st step anchor in a calm sandy spot, 2nd step launch the dingy and load it up with snorkels / masks, flippers, diving gear and us we had a very full dingy, 3rd step make are way around the reef to the mooring balls they provided. The skipper decided to go through the middle it was a rough trip bouncing around in the dingy but fun too...like a ride at the fair. Once we we were on the mooring ball securely the boys had to get their gear on so the ladies thought we would get out of their way and snorkel. Julie was concerned about getting back into the dingy I assured her she would be fine I would show her how once the time came, so in she goes 2 seconds later she is up and onto the dingy I've never seen someone exit the water so quickly it was so funny. So why did she jump back in you are thinking well....there were huge spotted eagle rays swimming around, after assurance that they will not hurt us we both went in to explore. These spotted eagle rays were amazing they were the biggest Bryan has ever seen their wing span was around 9 feet, I was very surprised how thick they were not anything like the flat black sting rays we have seen . The sheer size was amazing but their grace underwater was simply incredible a moment I will never forget. We didn't stay in the water very long as they were making us a bit nervous but I'm so happy we stayed in long enough to follow them for a while. The boys had an incredible dive so it was a great experience for everyone.

We slowly cruised back towards Elbow Cay we were looking forward to trying out a new marina the Sea Spray resort and Marina which is really close to Hope Town...we were all tucked in by 4:30. Interesting to me that all of the marina's are so different this one is home of many beautiful fancy yachts much bigger than ours, the marina is smaller but really nice. They have a beach bar with outdoor restaurant and an indoor bar and restaurant too, a small pool, showers etc. After registering and cleaning up the dive gear we decided to have a drink at the outside bar, Paul our server was very nice he made Julie and I a "Switch'a" it is vodka or gin with their local sour orange and simple syrup that is infused with rosemary, omg it was amazing . The boys enjoyed a margarita which had rosemary salted rim so very different drinks we ordered an appy and enjoyed the stories of the people around the bar. The original decision was to cook on board but we quickly decided to just stay there and eat, the others had brick oven pizza and I had more prawns and of course truffle french fry's so yummy. The bar has a game to amuse their patrons let me try and explain, there is a long string with a ring at the end you have to swing the string towards the bar and hook in on the hook that is attached on the corner sounds easy but it's not...I was given instruction by Paul and a local boater...finally success it was fun! We had a wonderful night, met the owner of the marina and the captain of the biggest yacht in the marina it was animated and fun. The spontaneous nights are the best!

Internet is really slow so no pictures until I can get to a better spot.

Oh my Julie, they never tell you why it's so easy to get back into the dinghy, do they! :) Fright creates might! Sounds amazing ... I am having visions of my " go find Jesus " snorkel :) Heather will fill you in.
