Lets Explore Guana Cay

Great Guana Cay, Hope Town, Bahamas
Good morning I'm up early and the sunrise didn't disappoint me. The winds picked up in the night a bit and we turned like a top with a fair amount of bow slap, to all the guests coming you won't experience this in your cabin :)

So the plan today is to explore this Cay apparently there is a marina and another bar called Nippers which is a lot of fun on the open ocean side and another few smaller places to check out . Nippers is hosting the Barefoot Man concert Mar. 18th and 19th not sure if we will make it there but it's supposed to very good...we will see where we are. Every Sunday they have a dance party and wild boar roast apparently they have anywhere from 100 to 800 people attend this is a must do at some point this winter.

I have to say we are just loving the Abacos region, these Islands are closer together and there is so much to explore and see. Another couple of Cay's we need to see are Lubbers Quarter and Man O War. I loved the Exuma's last year but I agree that this area has more to offer, it is quickly becoming one of the highlights of the Bahama's and brings in the second most tourist money to all of the Islands aside from Paradise Island which hosts Atlantis.

The day unfolded perfectly, we slowly made our way over to the Orchid Bay Marina our first docking attempt was pretty tight I kept telling the dock master I don't think we will fit and finally he agreed and we moved to a much wider slip . The wind was blowing so holding the boat even was tricky but the skipper is a master at that :-) After lunch we decided to do a walk about the town it is very tiny we are amazed at how many bars there were for such a small place I counted 6 and 2 gift shops, 1 grocery store. The store is well stocked which was nice to see. Great Guana Cay is 6 miles long and 1100 metres wide at the widest point so it's not big at this end of the Island the shops and homes are well taken care of but modest at the other end Bakers Bay it's very high end you need an invitation or you can pay $50 per hour to tie your dingy up!!! Insanity.

We stopped at the Nippers bar for a drink to check it out it's pretty cool all painted in bright colors and very large lots of space for these dance party's we have heard of. The beach here is amazing wow even better than the one at Treasure Cay we walked and enjoyed the mash potato like sand which is very pink. Then of course it was nap time in the shade listening to the waves crashing onto shore, even I dozed off which is a rare occurrence. We enjoyed the sunset at Grabbers Bed and Bar again it was stunning then walked over to Nippers were we thought we might have dinner. The bugs were out in full force they weren't bothering me too much as I rubbed down with the Off before we left apparently skipper did not eeek. We had a drink and some fries then decided to head back to the boat and eat there.

Hearts was the game tonight and the skipper enjoyed winning again.

6 bars in a tiny place - nice! Work on getting yourself an invite!
