Through the grampians

Halls Gap, Victoria, Australia
Our hotel has a tame kangaroo who is fed bread at breakfast and dinner through the window of the restaurant, lemon tree is his name. He was the alpha male of the mob that live in the grounds of the hotel but has now been ostracised by them and just hangs out round the hotel.
Our first stop this morning was the Grampians Aboriginal cultural centre . It was the first of its kind here in Australia and is designed around the local creation story both inside and out. The second stop was Tower Hill nature park, this formed from the remains of three volcanos and is situated in a vast crater right by the Southern Ocean. We saw some wild emus feeding just by the roadside and some more Koalas but this time they were truly wild and not rescued ones. We had lunch in a cafe overlooking the harbour in Warrnambool but sadly it started to rain, the first we have had in Australia so we repaired back to our hotel which overlooks the dunes towards the ocean. A trip into town to get some cash and wine also allowed Kate to buy a Kathmandu roller duffel. A zip had broken on her bag and she regretted not buying one in the sale in Sydney but was delighted to see a shop here and owing to a special end of month sale it was cheaper than it would have been.Result!
