Trondheim blues and then some!

Trondheim, Trondelag, Norway
We had been looking forward to visiting Trondheim, and knew that there was free parking for MH's.   We tried to ring Tourist info to see if this was for 24hrs but got a message saying this no is discontinued....
We drove right into the city centre passing about 4 automatic toll stations totalling about £10 worth of tolls. We found the Mh parkin area, but all the signs had been covered up, saying it was closed on 27/5/2015 from 0.700am !!!!!   We stopped a while wondering what on earth to do next, when an English MH came in.   The driver was staying with his daughter who lived in the city. Apparently the car park was closed for a mega street cleaning operation, and all the MH's that had overnighted there had left promptly before 7am as the parking operatives were 'like the gestapo'   As far as he knew there was no where else in the city to park MH's
We looked in our info and found a campsite on the Trondheim fjord about 10 miles out of the city. As we made our way out of the city again we had to go back through the toll stations again and PAY TO GET OUT!!!  We found out later that if you go back within an hour you don't pay again - however we wasted time looking up campsites etc that it probably was over an hour later when we went through.
We eventually found a lovely campsite and a pitch right at the edge of the fjord next door to the ferry terminal. There was no one in Reception until 3pm so we didn't have a clue how much it would cost!
We had an early lunch and walked the half mile or so to the bus stop.
We got talking to a very nice young Norwegian who said the locals were sick and tired of the road tolls and the cost of ferries.   He had been caught speeding in northern Norway and had his licence taken away immediately and a £500 fine!
He had a special card for the bus, we had to pay 50NOK (4.50) each way - he paid 19 NOK!!
When we got to Trondheim we complained at the tourist office and they didn't even know the MH parking was shut. They made a phone call and no one knew when it would re-open.
Trondheim is a nice place, but it kept raining on and off, and when we went to visit the Cathedral, guess what? - it was shut! We did however find an Army museum with a very good display about the WW2 and the Norwegian resistance - and that was free.
We eventually caught the bus back to the very nice campsite and found it would cost about £24 a night with free showers and electricity included - very cheap for Norway.

That's a frustrating Trondheim tale Cheryl. Btw I was doing a crossword on the beach after a swim this morning, with warm sunshine and 25°, one of the answers was "troll" so I immediately thought of you two in Norway! Give us some detail on the temps and sunrise sunset times please. Are you in 24 hr daylight yet? DDx

Hi - just got wifi at last! We've been in the land of the midnight sun for quite a while. Makes it very hard to get to sleep. It feels like you've been sent to bed when everyone else is out to play. Have taken some pics, but not been east facing in cloud or fog which is best, apparently. Wait til Nordkapp. Hoping to catch up with blog over next couple of days xxx

Should have said ' facing west' - although the sun doesn't set, it moves across,,, and then rises again, apparently. Took a photo last night at 12.10 in full daylight!

Have been re-looking at blogs now that photos are there. Cheryl this one has some great photos of the city. Shame about your first experience with the MH park.
