Lofoten Islands, Nordland, Norway
We awoke to an awful day. The rain was lashing down.  We had nice hot showers in the MH and a leisurely breakfast, but there was no break in the rain so we set off to the very wet Lofotens.  We stopped to take a few photos at Kabelvag from under the umbrella, and then went on to Henningsvaer, where there is a nice big ,free carpark at the entrance to the village By the time we had finished a quick cup of coffee the rain had eased off and we had a stroll around the pretty fishing village. This is a real working port and we were about the only tourists there until a big Swiss MH pulled up beside us
We saw hundreds of racks of cod drying (?) in the wind and open air. It doesn't seem as though the seagulls are interested in it.   There were racks and racks of bunches of fish heads drying - we assume for pet food or fertilizer?  It didn't half pong - must be awful in hot weather!
We carried on past many lovely fishing villages, through tunnels UNDER the fjords and the sea, and over lovely high arched, twisty bridges. Who needs the Atlantic Highway? We made our way through the islands right to the end of Moskenesoya at A. We had probably seen the islands at their worst, but they still looked dramaic with rough seas and great grey clouds.
When we got to A the sun finally appeared and we walked right out to the end to see great views of the last few tiny islands.
We overnighted at the Fishing museum carpark with 6 other MH's, with the sun still shining at half past midnight, and on through the night!
