Cloncurry to Bang Bang rest area
We started the 400 km trip north to Karumba
.
By lunch time we had reached the Burke & Wills Roadhouse, so after lunch at the roadhouse we decided to head on to the Free camp at Bang Bang. There is a Caravan Park adjoining the Roadhouse - but, with the exception of showers, it is not much different in facilities to the Bang Bang Free camp.
Bang Bang was not too bad for a dry, dusty spot amongst the ant hills, miles from anywhere, it has toilets and is quite large.
It was made even better when Mick, Larry & Lynne pulled in, we had met them in Mitchell & Blackall. Now we had a party, so BYO happy hour was agreed. Since there was another couple from Perth nearby, Yvonne & Don, the 9 of us had a very enjoyable evening, free camping under the stars amongst the ant hills.
