Krabi Town, Thailand
I didn't wake up until 10:15am after a good sleep but my body was aching all over off the rock solid bed. Andrew went to get a shower but came back rather annoyed as there was no water, which was also the case the other day. We went to get some cereal for breakfast from the 7 Eleven and asked the owner on the way back why there was no water. She explained that parts of Krabi were without water and electricity, so we assumed it was the result of the stormy weather. This meant that as we had both not had a shower yesterday it was now our second day without one! We walked round to 'Good Dream' for our transport to our 'Thai Cookery Course' at Thai Cottage. There was a small group of six people in total, so it was a nice, relaxing atmosphere. We first of all chose which five dishes we each wanted to cook. We were then shown to our cooking station and started by preparing the ingredients for our soup and stir-fry dish. Andrew didn't have much to do for his 'Tofu & Vegetable Soup' whereas I had a bit more chopping for my 'Tom Yam Goong' which included Thai ginger, or galangal which was difficult to chop. We found out that a Thai soup consists of three groups of ingredients, which are firstly prepared and placed onto a single plate ready for cooking. We then did the same three group preparation for our stir-fry. Once everything was prepared we moved to our individual gas stove, started boiling some water and then cooked our soup. It tasted so good I wanted to eat it immediately but we had to put it to one side whilst we cooked our stir-fry dish. I was the only one to choose 'Chicken & Cashew Nut' so I had to cook it whilst everyone was watching me! The chicken kept sticking to the pan so I got a little frustrated but it seemed to work out in the end. Once everybody had cooked we were allowed to eat! After a short rest, we returned to our cooking station for the difficult part of making our curry paste. I worked alongside a Swede called Nicolas, as we both chose to cook a 'Panang Curry' so he got the job of grinding all the spices in a pestle and mortar, whilst I finely chopped the other ingredients. The grinding was hard work so we kept swapping as our Thai teacher kept saying we had to keep going until it was completely smooth! Andrew being the professional got his impressively smooth with very little effort! We left the paste to one side while we cooked our appetiser dish. Andrew made 'Spring Roll' and I had a quick go but found it quite a fiddly task, as I didn't wrap it tightly enough so the filling spilled out. I then made 'Sticky Rice & Mango' which had a lot of sugar in it so I couldn't wait to sample it later! The final thing left to cook was our curry. The paste went into the wok first, followed by coconut milk, chicken and vegetables, before leaving it boil. We then got to eat our appetiser and curry and we were so full! The Swede girl called Lisa found a small worm in her 'Red Curry' attached to an aubergine, so that put her off but we continued to eat! We were given a cookbook and a certificate before being driven back to 'Good Dream'.

We had a walk to 'Vogue Department Store' to get a USB charger for the phone, as the one we had broke . We had eaten so much but managed to squeeze in a Swensen's ice cream. As Andrew was eating his the whole scoop fell off but he somehow managed to catch it in his other hand! We chilled out in our room for the rest of the night after a tiring day of cooking!
