Fish and chips in Fremantle.

Scarborough, Western Australia, Australia
A short journey this morning, just down the road to Fremantle.
Fremantle, important container port, popular harbour for pleasure craft large and small and once important fishing centre . Now it's a lovely harbour area with lots of restaurants with a high emphasis on fish and chips!
Strolling around the harbour there are a number of memorials, one to the fishermen and families who had suffered loss at sea which is rather beautiful with its lifelike fisherman figures and one to the rock star Don Scott.
Continuing on to Bathers Beach there are more pieces of sculpture on the sand. In fact there was a whole section of art work being set up while we were walking. Lots of interesting pieces with different connections to the area.
With so much emphasis on fishing and every other building being a fish and chip restaurant it would be rude not to indulge. Sitting in the old harbour area with the sound of sea and gulls being a nuisances together with some fantastic fish and chips made for a really pleasant meal.
A walk into the town to check out some of the older architectural styles was needed later to walk off our indulgence. An interesting afternoon too. We are becoming increasingly fond of the Perth area and will miss it when we move on.
On the me Dirk decided to stop to look at city beach just because it's there. Nice beach but the wind started to get up and it was getting colder. The kids didn't seem to mind as they were enjoying their surfing lessons.
