On the road again today our destination Wave Rock. Decided to leave early and find a more pleasant spot for breakfast. This area has really red soil, which is really attractive.
This is real out back country, large areas of land with few houses must be quite isolated living here don't think I'd fancy it much,
We were interested to find the 'Tin horse Highway' where they were interesting and amusing sculptures of horses in various guises
. The trail started in the town of Kulin, a town that prided it self on being camper friendly. There certainly were some great facilities there, and they were free! There was some considerable skill in making the horses together with a great sense of humour! It was good fun finding them and choosing which to photograph. A very pleasant part of the journey.
Our next stop was Hyden, the nearest town to Wave Rock, time to gather some supplies for the next few days. It was a good opportunity to look at some more metal sculpture based on local people, stories and events in its development. Very clever.
Wave Rock was a really interesting complex made up of the camp ground and a number of small museums, including a lace making museum Mary had told us about.
The campground was very good, clean shower facilities, a nice pool and a good camp kitchen.
The main objective of our journey had been to see Wave Rock and in the early afternoon we set our to do so. We were not disappointed; the structure is amazing so many colours and patterns looking fantastic as the sun began to set giving it a rather eerie atmosphere. Climbing to the top gave a different perspective again. Such an amazing structure. Tomorrow we will investigate the other rock formations around here.
Back at the camp we discovered that our electricity was working at last but when we went to use some of the vans appliances we could smell burning, which was rather worrying especially when we discovered that our electric connector was burnt. Oh dear!!
Having contacted Britz we were given instructions of where we could get assistance. So we will be on the move again tomorrow.
