Nuremberg, Bamberg and Coburg

Coburg, Bavaria, Germany
We had hoped to be able to explore the Old Town and castle of Nuremberg but were defeated by the traffic leaving Munich, delaying us an hour, traffic into Nuremberg delaying us another hour, and a total inability to find a park for The Boomer, so we had to be content with looking from afar. Another "next time".

Similar look at Bamberg then on to camp outside Coburg (where Victoria's husband Albert came from) . Looked for "free camping" and ended up in the car park of the cemetery on the outskirts of a small village!(Frei.......=cemetery).
While travelling , we had watched some teens, boys and girls, play a new game - looked like hockey except that they had shields and hit each other!

Woke to 8 degrees- where is spring, let alone summer????

First up, we went into the Veste Coburg, one of the largest fortresses in Germany. A magnificently restored, triple walled castle set up as a museum, with Renaissance art, glass collections, armour displays, carriages, and more. Amazing display of sleds where the man sat on the jockey seat to steer, while the woman in front jousted with the lance. We also saw the winning exhibits of the International Glass Competition - you cannot imagine what they can do with glass, so beautiful and so creative.

Travelled some beautiful forested country. We discovered that "No through road" means the same, even when you cannot speak German! We had to turn back when we had ignored several signs and we came to where they had torn up the whole road. Back tracked for 40 minutes then drove within 200 metres of where we had turned around, on another road!

Finally reached Weimar and camped on the edge of town, urban surf again to lull us to sleep.
