Oslo, Oslo, Norway
Drove to Oslo. Looked for Bobil camp at the Marina - not open until June!

Drove into Oslo itself and went first to Kontiki museum . So much to learn, not only about Kontiki in 1947, but also about the Ra expeditions in 1969 and 1970, and the Tigris expedition to the Red Sea in 1978, when Thor Heyerdahl burned his reed raft as a protest against war. The museum was all Thor Heyerdahl who also explored Easter Island, among other spots.

Then to the Viking Ship Museum, surely a highlight as far as museums go. Then off to a free camp on the edge of a lake outside the city. Beautiful spot for walking around before dinner.

Next day moved camp to nearer the city to access washing machines etc. Drove in and spotted another expedition vehicle with Queensland plates!! Parked next to them and took a photo. Then the owners emerged.........Debra and Barb, mutual friends of Guy and Cheryl. We knew of them but had never met. Small world!!!!!! Great chance to natter and catch up.

Then took off for town by local bus. Looked at the Resistance Museum within the fortress on the quay, picnic lunch then Nobel Peace Centre (discovered later that Nobel was actually Swedish) and then National Gallery to see Edvard Munch paintings - not impressed!

Home for dinner with Debra and Barb. Planned to leave next morning. Guy and Cheryl heading into Oslo, but only briefly so settled for a phone chat.

Set off east towards Sweden. Crossing into Sweden was like going into another world ...... some interesting contrasts. Beautiful forested country.

Camped on the outskirts of Karlstadt, birthplace of Nobel.
